Procedure (29-45 minutes)
-Play the video about 3reasons for travelling. -Ask CCQs about the topic. Is he talking about hobbies? no What is he talking about? travelling So is he talking about the places he has visited so far? No- Reasons What are the reasons for travelling? Elicit the answers. write them on the WB
PW-HO1 give a list of reasons and let them discuss in pairs if they have travelled because of any reasons in the list. They will write their own list feedback PW-discuss why they travel. -WC feedback Elicit their answers. Draw a mindmap on the board and write the answers around it.
Ask to check if the students have read the novel "the Beach" by Alex Garland. HO2 -Skim the text for gist and find why the author went travelling. WC feedback. Ask why he went travelling and elicit the answers.
HO3 Give True or False questions. They read the text carefully to find if statements are true or false individually. Give them enough time to find the correct answers. ICQ: The answers will be folded so ask ICQs to be sure that students will not open the folded part during reading! PW: they will check their answers in pairs. Answer Key: They will check their answers individually.
Project prepositions in describing geographical places and England map on the board. Elicit the answers. They will fill in the gaps with the correct phrases. Write them on the WB they will make a list of the places they've travelled to so far. HO4-give them the prepositions in geographical description PW -let them share where those places, they have visited before, are by using the prepositions in geographical descriptions. If time needed: WC mingle- students stand up ask their friend Where they have seen so far? They will write friends name on their list if she/he visited the same place. Try to find how many people have been to the same places before and try to find one place where nobody else has been. Questions to be asked: Where have you been so far? Have you been to France?
While the students check their answers in pairs Teacher observes and take notes about their mistakes. Write the wrong use of language on the board. Elicit the correct answers by asking CCQs
