Main Aims

The aims is to give the students some background knowledge about the author and the genre of the text they will read in the following session.
Subsidiary Aims

The sub aim is to teach students some vocabulary to help them to speak about an author or his/her work.
Procedure (45 minutes)
T asks Ss general opinion about reading. T shows them some pictures with quotes about books and ask them to share their opinion.
T shows a picture of the author and elicit information from Ss. T shows the cover photos of some her books ,and asks Ss to guess her books ' genre. T gives a definition of the genre in case some Ss do not know what it is exactly.
T gives Ss some questions to read and answer. Ss share and discuss their answers with the class . T gives feedback. T teaches the two words( prolific and pen name) and focuses on their meaning /part of speech / stress. T asks Ss to mention a prolific writer or artist they know or tell the class some writers' pen name and real name.
T asks Ss to choose one crime-fiction author ( preferably their favourite) and think about it for 2minutes. Ss can google it to get more information. Ss talk about their author in pairs or groups.
T asks Ss to read the reviews about The Fallen Curtain and choose the words that describe the book. T asks Ss to guess the meanings & T teaches the words completely.
T elicits different crime-fiction books Ss know & T writes them on the board. T put Ss in groups to write a review for the books.
