Listening for specific information.
Procedure (33-49 minutes)
T revises the words on the board (from the previous lesson) and tries to elicit the word 'use' by the sentences 'do you ---- a computer?', 'do you ....... a car?'. T pairs the SS and ask them to ask whether their partner use these objects on the wall.
Teacher gives the list of the words on the board to the students. T plays the recording. Students listen and tick the words they hear. Teacher asks Ss check their answers in pairs. Teacher gives the Ss the handout that has the sentences from the listening track. T gives Ss a minute to go over the sentences. T plays the recording and Ss decide whether the sentences are true or false. SS check their answers in pairs. Students writes the False sentences on the board.
T asks Ss to correct the sentences on the board according to the listening track. Starting from the first sentence 'The woman does not write personal emails at work', T explains the negative form of simple present tense.
T distributes Exercise 1 Handout and asks the students to fill in the gaps as pairs. T checks the answers as WC. T distributes Exercise 2 Handout. In order to students to do exercise 3 they have to form questions directed to the T. T gives Ss some time to form their questions as pairs. T writes her answers on the board.
T's answer from the previous Exercise (Exercise) is still on the board. The last answer was I don't have brothers and sisters. I have one brother and one sister'. From the example T tries to elicit the meaning of 'and'. After eliciting 'and' and giving more examples of 'and' T contrasts it with 'but' and tries the students to elicit the meaning of 'but' and make them give more sentences.
T gives the students Exercise 3 and asks them to answer the question in pairs. Teacher gives feedback on the board by writing the sentences on the board and making Ss sticking 'and' and 'but' slips to the board.
T divides the class intro groups, gives the students slips from the Handout (Are you a technowizard) and aks them to form questions according to the information they have on the slips and answering these questions by taking turns. T gives the Handout (Present Simple -L1) to students for revision for the weekend.
