Description

In this lesson the students will learn to express greetings on special days in context of functional language.Students will get certain pictures ,writing and speaking activities.They will check their answers in pair work and will also drill for functional exponent and months of the year.

Materials

Abc Gap-fill handout,Match cards and dates handouts

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T show them some pictures of special days and ask them to know about it. Students will brainstorm in pairs and tell about the picture.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T sticks some pictures of special days on WB and gives the some phrases to the special days to match.Ss drill these phrses in pairwork

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

T presents months of the year from the demo lesson.T gives them some activities on it and allow them to work in pairs.He also asks students how to ask for special days and possible answers for it.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T demonstrates how to express the dates and months of the special days.T also does a lot of choral drill at this stages for the correctness of pronunciation.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T gives them an activity on information-gap to the students in which in pair works ,in which they dictate each other a number of dates and check themselves.T also manages a role -play of two students for this demo.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T asks the students to write four dates that are important to them.Students work in pairs and they ask their partners dates and also ask them why they are important.T monitors the students and help them if required.
