To provide Ss practice of present continuous in the context of Apartment life

To provide Ss vocabulary for actions and prepositions as they use present continuous statements.

To teach Ss the meaning, form and pronunciation of present continuous tense
Subsidiary Aims

To provide practice of the present continuouse by using a listening.
Procedure (49-70 minutes)
Draw Ss' attention to the Page 38 of the book. Ask: Where are the people? ( In their Apartments .) What actions do you see? ( Talk, dance, eat, listen to music, argue, read.) Elicit sentences from the class as much as possible.
Do a questionnaire with the Ss and ask them to talk about their neighbors and neighborhood.
Play Ss a video about present continuous.
Focus on the picture and sound (Baby is crying) (Pp) Elicit from the students. What's happening? Is it Past, Present or Future? Is it happening now? Drill.(fingers) Baby is crying. Baby's crying. Show the intonation goes up and down. Write on the board. What tense is that? (present continuous) how do you know? how do you form present continuous? what's grammar rule do you use? Subject +to be +verb+ing Draw a time line. Ask students to say the negative form of the sentence. And the question form. The same with 1 more examples (Pp) Drill first the full form and short form of the sentence. Write it on the board. They are playing the violin. CCQ: Are they doing it now? (yes)
Ask the students to do the exercises 2b on page 39.
Put Ss in pairs and ask them to talk about the pictures on page 102 and 107 These pictures are somehow the same but have some differences, Student A tells what’s happening in the their picture, then Student B looks at their picture and tell A if it’s the same of different. If it’s different they tell A what’s happening.
Ask students to look at the photo on page 39 and read the text given. Amd answer some questions about the text.
Play the audio for Ss and ask them a general question about the listening to check their comprehension Play the audio again and ask Ss to do the exercise 4b and fill in the gaps.
(If time allows) Ask Ss to talk about rules in their country and whether they’re good or bad.
