Description

In this lesson, The students are going to practice on speaking through group activities discussion about " building a new road in Arne Valley". The students are supposed to have an open discussion at the beginning of the class about the three headlines that would be written on the board to lead them in the lesson.Then the students will work on a" jigsaw activity" that lead the students to be involved in practicing speaking skill according to the texts they will read. Finally the students are supposed to have an open discussion to discuss the handout questions that connect the texts to their real life.

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a group work activity in the context of a new road in Arne valley

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking and to lead them to practice on collbrative work

Procedure

warming up (5-6 minutes) • To lead the students in the topic we are going to discuss

The students are supposed to look at the three headline that are on the board and try to guess through an open discussion what is the topic that we are going to discuss.

pre -reading (5-7 minutes) • To give the students the instruction and group the students in their home groups to be ready to act the jigsaw activity

In this stage , The students are supposed to be divided in three or four home groups( depend on the students number) and divide them into As, Bs and Cs students.Then the students are supposed to be provided with the instructions that they will follow to activate the jigsaw activity by "chesting" to show them what they are going to read and demonstrating what they are going to do.

While - reading (8-10 minutes) • To invovle the students in the jigsaw activity

The students are supposed to be divided already into three groups of 1s together ,2s together and etc... (depend on the students number). Then the students are supposed to be involved in reading to comprehend the text and share it with his group using their speaking skill to brain storm the ideas that they are supposed to get from the text.

Re -Grouping (10-15 minutes) • To provide the home groups with their knowledge about buliding a new road

The students are supposed to re-group again to their home groups to discuss and share their knowledge about the new road in Arne valley to comprehend the whole topic and answer the handouts questions that they are supposed to get by the end of this stage.

C C Q (8-10 minutes) • To check the students answer and make sure that wc comprehend the lesson

The students are supposed to have handouts question (based on three questions) to open a discussion about building a new roads and what would be the best form of protest and how they could encourage other people to join the protest.
