To introduce and provide practice of speaking for fluency in the context of special days
Subsidiary Aims

Learners will review vocabulary they may know for important days.Learners will have also practiced some reading while doing speaking activities
Procedure (34-49 minutes)
- Teacher displays slide virtual background (VB): Nominate 1 st and ask: What special days do you celebrate? - Let students tell you possible answers. o Write answers on the WB/screen (Slide 1) - Cue students to tell you, what gifts they give on birthday celebrations. - Send SS to BoR to share answers - Return and share answers (Slide 2)
- Ask SS about their birthdays. o Say “Your teacher’s birthday is next month…” - Show students the conversation in Slide 3 - Tell SS to read quickly and complete the conversation - Help students complete the conversation - Go to Slide 4 go over MPA - Cue the students on the function questions What about an MP3 player? /wɒt əˈbaʊt ən ɛm-piː3 ˈpleɪə?/ CCQ: Is this a question or an affirmation?
