Description

In this lesson, students will practice their writing skills by writing an informal postcard to a friend.

Main Aims

  • To enable students to practice writing a short postcard to a friend.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of correspondence words in the context of postcards to a friend.

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

have a lead in based on the topic

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

2. Text analysis – Show Ss your own example of the email, then: a)help Ss identify the different sections (parts) of the post card and b)the language that is part of it (ask them to identify if language is formal or informal)

Provide Ss with an (online) checklist so that they can read a peer´s postcard. You can send them to breakout rooms and they can give each other feedback after using the checklist
