Description

In this lesson, The Ss are supposed to discuss a new word "dilemma" starting with brain storming discussion, elicited by a hangman activity that will help Ss to identify the meaning of the word. Then Ss will be working on providing their literary skill of reading through a new story of a girl who is called " Fiona" and we will discuss her "dilemma" by giving them information about her, elicited with a picture that will help us to move forward to a new activity which is " Running dictation" that will involve the Ss to read, listen and write the story by working in pairs. Reading-ordering is going to be our third stage in which the Ss supposed to put Fiona's story in order which is figured by a pair work strategy. Finally, The WC supposed to open a discussion which built up on (wh questions) to ask the Ss what should Fiona do & Why and what she should do when she gets the answer.

Main Aims

  • the Ss are supposed to practice on integrated skills (Reading, Listening & Speaking)

Subsidiary Aims

  • The Ss are supposed to understand the meaning of the new word in addtion to practice on writing.

Procedure

Integrated skills (5-10 minutes) • The students are supposed to practice on integrated skills (Reading, Listening & Speaking)

Warming/ lead in : T-S , WC are supposed to discuss their dilemma moving forward to identify the word " Dilemma" through a hangman activity.

Pre-reading/ Listening (1-5 minutes) • The students are supposed to raed about a girl called Fiona & her dilemma

The Students are supposed to read about a girl called Fiona & her dilemma elicited by a picture printed out of Tp's. Then the Students are supposed to take instructions according to the up-coming activity called " Running dictation".

Running dictation (1-15 minutes) • The students are supposed to practice on integrated skills (Reading, Listening & Speaking)

The students will be divided in to groups ( Group A) and (Group B). The Students of Group A are supposed to go to the walls and try to memorize the sentences that on the walls around to dictate it to the students of Group B and they can change roles if they want.

Reading -ordering (1-5 minutes) • The students are supposed to put the story in order

The students are supposed to have a problem because they have to put the story in order and that would be in 5 minutes to discuss this problem and working on it together in pairs

Freer speaking (1-5 minutes) • The students will discuss in pairs what Fiona should do & why and what question she should ask

In this procedure, the students will be utilized of the activities they have done before to discuss what Fiona should do when she gets the answers & why and what questions she should ask.

Flexi-stage (1-5 minutes) • The students are supposed to practice on Speaking skill.

If there is time left, the students will have a little chat to discuss their own dilemmas that they have at schools & what solutions they will have to end it up.
