Description
Students will be exposed to 4 instances of reported speech which fit well into a context of clarification, miscommunication, arguments and gossip. The tasks and text provide evidence of this context and how the language is used. It should allow students to understand form and prove their accuracy and fluency with it in the CP and FP stages.

Main Aims

To provide clarification, review and practice of reported speech in the context of miscommunications and arguments

To provide gist reading practice using a text about three friends trying to schedule a dinner

To provide accuracy in the context of reporting speech about their personal experiences
Procedure (37-49 minutes)
Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students
Ask students to send in the chat box:
Gist-Task (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation
Ss will read a text fairly thoroughly so that they can see the TL and answer IND the two gist questions
Guided Discovery (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language
