To provide an opportunity to present new vocabulary from the text, do the MFP and practicing speaking fluency through speaking practice
Procedure (23-45 minutes)
- Ss are assigned to take a look at picture about TL which is "Scotland and the people". - Teacher gets students to talk in pairs about what the picture is about. - ICQs: students will be giving 2 to 3 minutes to share their ideas. - CCQs: Is it a map? ( Yes ) Is it a map of country? ( Yes ) Is it map of China? ( No ) Is it a country map next to the England and Ireland? (Yes) - Elicit answers from students - Ss might model the language within ccqs by making sentence - Feedback: Ss will be asked to share their ideas about TL with class and teacher will write topic on board
- Teacher illustrates some visuals - Ss will elicit the new vocabularies by predicting from students - Modeling and elicit by Ss - Teacher writes new words on board - MFP: Teacher elicit meaning, stress, form and pronunciation - Drill 3 times - Feedback: Whole class will repeat to make sure MFP is done effectively. do some corrections if its needed.
-Distribute HOs,Ss are assigned a semi controlled practice to read the first few lines of each paragraph -Ss will be given HOs to do the task individually. - ICQs: Ss must be aware of task and time. - Monitoring should be done. - Peer checking: Ss will see and control each others answers. - Feedback: Ask students to share with class to check the class understanding.
- Ss will read the text entirely and carefully in 3 to 4 minutes. - Distribut HOs, students will be assigned a controlled practice to evaluate students comprehension of text. - ICQ: clear instruction is needed - Ask students to do it individually - Peer checking and monitoring - Feedback: teacher will write what students answered on board
- After distributing handouts consisting of four questions - let students personalize the topic by distributing handouts which consist of four questions - Let them talk in pairs - Monitor and delayed correction - Ask students to share with class
