  • To provide clarification of the past simple tense form of common verbs in the context of weekend activities

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in: TGIF. What did you do in the last two weekends? Discussion in BoR (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students in talking about weekend activities

Students decode TGIF, fill out two actions from their last two weekends' activities and talk about them in BoR.

Exposure: Read and repeat (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text

Please read the chats and pay attention to the meaning, form and pronunciation

Highlighting: Fill in the form choosing the correct past tense form (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language.

Clarification: CCQs to ascertain meaning + Sentence structure and stress + pronunciation (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

After filling the form pay attention to the stress and pronunciation. Then work on the consonant clusters and stress of these sentences,

Controlled Practice: Order of Subject and complement + spot errors (8-10 minutes) • To concept-check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Based on the above clarification try to reorder the sentences and spot errors. Show demoing,

Free Practice: Refine meaning and pronunciation (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Ask the students what they learnt and make them use the past tense. Focus on the pronunciation and change of meaning if word order changes,
