-
Students will be able to describe Istanbul by using comparatives and superlatives.
Procedure (30-45 minutes)
I will draw Finland and Turkey on the whiteboard and give few facts about Finland. Then together with the students' (but strongly led by me) we will make simple comparison between F and T.
In pairs the students will do task 1 in which they will put adjectives into 4 different groups. We will go the task through together as a whole class and also read the written rules from below. I will make clear and short summary on the white borad (1 example per group). We will also go memorize the irregular ones (bad, good and far). I will have to make sure that everyone knows what the words "syllable" and "irregular" means.
I will explain the adverbs mainly just by using visual aids. I will draw on the board and use pictures.
In pairs students will do the task 2. Before doing the task I will go through different types of sports in case there are few unclear ones (such as Dragon boat racing).
In groups of 3 students will answer to questions which I will give as a handout. They will decide the answers together and answer in full sentences in a group talk.
I will divide the group into two groups. I will show them two pictures simultanously and they will have to guess the adjective related to these pictures. In order to get points they need to be able to create correct forms of comparatives (1 point) and superlatives (2 points). This will balance the overall lesson since the they might be worn out from the previous grammar load.
