To present informal usage of lexis in relation to writing email to a friend.
Procedure (27-37 minutes)
Students will begin the lesson by having an image of postcards in front of them. They then will be asked if they ever received a postcard in the mail. Next, they will be asked what do they think has replaced postcards.
The teacher will ask the students to read a short email written to a friend. They will have to answer 2 questions on google forms on their own. Then in front of the class, the teacher will call on different students to read the email out loud and answer the questions.
Students will be introduced to different topics on google jam board when writing an email to a friend. They will have to choose a topic they want to write about to a friend. They will have about 7 minutes to write an email. Students will share what they wrote with their peers. Lastly, we will have whole class feedback.
The teacher will be writing in the chat errors she heard the students make during the discussion and put the correct language. The teacher will highlight the correct language used and praise the student's efforts. The teacher will give students new lexis that can be used for writing emails to friends. Lastly, the teacher will ask if there are any questions.
