To provide fluency in using functional language reacting to a story.
Procedure (29-37 minutes)
Students will be presented a set of two google slides in order for them to discuss three questions regarding holidays. The first slide will contain some pictures about means of transportation. Students discuss the following questions: 1.- Which of the forms of transport in the pictures have you used? 2.- When was the last time you travelled in one of these? 3.- What things can go wrong when you use these forms of transport? Students discuss the questions in pairs, in breakout rooms.
Students will be presented a listening task in order for them to identify general ideas about two people talking about their last holiday (why they took that holiday: business reasons or family holiday). Students compare answers in breakout rooms (2 minutes) Studentswill be presented an intesive listening taks in which they have to find specific information. Check answers in whole class.
Students will be presented a set of google slides in which functional language for telling and reacting to a story will be presented. Teacher presents and have students work out meaning and appropiacy of the language.Form will be presented. This part of the lesson shoud be presented SYSTEMATICALLY in order to avoid confusion in giving lots of information. Pronounciation will be presented last, the emphasis will be in exclamation expressions.
Students work in a language task focused on accuracy. A short conversation will be presented amd students choose options. Students must practice pronunciation. Check answers in pairs,via breakout rooms.
Studentsworkon a communicative task. Students prepare a short story of their own. Allow 2 minutes for this. Students then are sent into breakout rooms and share their stories. Make sure students react to the stories with the language learnt. Teacher leads OCFB and DEC.
