Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-T asks Ss to look at the picture and read the title -T elicits some ideas from Ss about what it shows -T asks Ss to read the questions on their own and take a photo of it -T elicits the meaning of keep in touch, get (back) in touch, and lose touch -T puts Ss into groups and asks Ss to discuss the questions -Ss discuss the questions, T monitors -T elicits answers from Ss

Pre-Listening (3-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the audio and make it accessible

-T asks Ss to read quickly through Nicky's email and answer two questions on their own -Ss read the email, T monitors -T elicits the answer of the questions from Ss and shows the answer key -T asks Ss to match the words with definitions on their own -Ss do the matching exercise, T monitors -T asks Ss the answer of matching definitions and shows the answer key

While-Listening #1 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with specific and detailed information tasks

-T asks Ss to read the phrases a-l -T asks Ss to fill in the gaps of the email with the phrases a-l on their own -Ss do the fill in the gap exercise, T monitors -T puts Ss into groups and asks Ss to check their answers -Ss check answers, T monitors -T asks Ss to read two questions -T asks Ss to listen to an audio to check their previous answers and also answer the two questions -T plays the audio, Ss listen -T elicits the answer of the two questions and shows the answer key -T asks Ss to check their previous answers with the answer key

While-Listening #2 (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

-T asks Ss to match sentence beginnings in column A to endings in column B on their own -T puts Ss into groups and asks them to check their answers -T asks Ss to listen to the recording and check their answers -T plays the recording, Ss listen -T shows the answer key -T points out the pronunciation of some phrases in the recording -T asks Ss o listen to the recording again and repeat after each pause -T plays the recording and pauses, Ss repeat

Post-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to respond to what they have learned.

-T writes a question the board and asks Ss to read it on their own -T asks Ss to use Used to, would, simple past and past continuous to talk about past habits -T puts Ss in groups and asks them to discuss the question -Ss discuss the question, T monitors -T asks for feedback from Ss
