Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T greets Ss and welcomes them to class. [Title slide] Today we’re going to start by listening to a song. Has anyone heard of John Lennon? [Elicits from Ss - songwriter, The Beatles, etc.] We’re going to start by listening to “Imagine” (1971). I’ve sent you the lyrics in an email, and I will also send the PDF in the chat in case you didn’t receive the email. Let’s follow along, reading the lyrics as we listen to the song. Play video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkgkThdzX-8 (Start at 00:40, end at 03:41) Now let’s use “Imagine” to look at some grammar: If there were no countries, what would the world be like? If there were no possessions, how would our lives be different? Can anyone guess what grammar point we’ll be looking at tonight? That’s right, conditional sentences with ‘would.’
