Procedure (26-41 minutes)
-T asks students to discuss some questions When did you first study English? When did you first travel by yourself? - Ss work together in the main room of Zoom
- T gives ss a link to read a conversation - Ss will read and answer individually Instructions: You are going to read a conversation, then you'll answer some questions about it. After, you need to compare answers with a partner. Then send your answers. T conducts OCFB
- T asks students to point out (highlight) phrases in the conversation where FIRST is used.
- For each collocation he clarifies MPF with CCQs Example Is your first language English? NO Is first language the one you talk in your country? Yes - T models the pronunciation of the phrases and elicits relevant features of pronunciation (stress and weak forms) Example: X first language - T tells students that all the phrases are collocations (words that go together). No need to spend time explaining Form
T gives ss a link to a handout ss needs to write a collocation with First in order to complete the sentences. Instructions: Go to the following link and write a phrase with First. Before sending your activity compare with a partnet using the chat in Zoom T conducts OCFB
T will show the following questions and sentences. - What was the first impression you had of Today's teachers? - Do you believe in love at first sight? - At first I wanted to study/be........... SS will have a conversation in which they need to use some target language learned in class. For this, T will show some questions to guide them.
I will monitor and note down the common errors that the students make during pair / group works and correct these errors on the white board.
