Google Jamboard Questions done in pairs to be discussed for 3 minutes: Have you ever led a project or planned an event/party before? What were 3 key steps you had to undertake to be successful?
Students will use a Google forms TP4 Functional Language Initial Intensive Task while listening to an audio source Audio: https://www.linguahouse.com/en-GB/esl-lesson-plans/business-english/describing-a-process They will fill in the blanks with the words listed at the top of the page. I will play the audio only once, giving them only 2 minutes individually after the audio stops to fill in their answers. When they are finished, we will meet back to go over the answers via very short OCFB
Students will go through this first section on a Google form to match the correct halves to the first part of each sentence, the prompt. The first one has been done as an example in an attempt to reduce TTT. They will have 3 minutes or less, then the answers will be discussed our answers and the instructor will answer any questions they may have. They will also go over PA in an additional document for about 4 minutes in total, looking at emphasis of words in key target language phrases as well as formality/informality of the noun "things".
Students will have 2 minutes to fill in the blanks with missing words referencing phrases from the previous exercises remembering everything that has just been talked about. This will be done individually for 2 minutes, then answers will be checked in pairs (or groups) for 2 minutes. When the 2 minutes are up, they will exit the breakout rooms and come back to discuss their findings.
Students will in pairs/groups, discuss these questions, remembering to use the key phrases from today to answer the questions on this Jamboard for 5 minutes: They will tell their partner (or group) (choosing either of these 3 options, using 3 or more steps with today’s language): How to make their favourite dish How you do one task in their job/studies How their phone (or something) works They will talk with their partner/group for 5 minutes, then we will meet back here again to end off the lesson with DEC and feedback for 3 minutes.
