Description

In this lesson ,Ss will learn preposition of time practice speaking in context of time.

Materials

Abc gap-fill HOS -cut-ups-pictures -Whiteboard -marker

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of preposition of time in the context of time

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a a questionaire in the context of time

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

ask Ss about the date of the day then ask them to ask each others about their birthday date.

Test #1 (5 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

give Ss a test(multiple choices test) to choose the correct preposition and ask them to do the test individually.

Feedback (2 minutes) • check the Ss understanding & share answers

ask Ss to check their answers in pairs then have a WC feed back.

Teach the MFP of the preposition of time (10 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

elicit from the Ss the usage of preposition of time ask them to give examples ask Ss to recall the months of the year , the days of the week, and the seasons.(seasons are not capitalized). clarify the MFP of each preposition and write examples on the WB. point out the difference between on time and in time by giving examples. point out that on weekend and at weekend are correct to be used. Drill the word during since it is the only hard word to pronounce.

Test #2 (4 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

ask Ss to write Ss using the preposition of time (at -on -in -during).

Feedback (2 minutes) • check the Ss understanding & share answers

have Ss swap their papers with their partner and have a peer checking.

Test #2 (5 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

A test(fill in the gaps ) will be given to the Ss to check that the are able to use the target language correctly .

Feedback (3-5 minutes) • check the Ss understanding & share answers

Ss check their answers in pairs then have WC feedback.

pre -teach some vocabulary words (5 minutes) • prepare Ss to start using the functional Language effectively

elicit the meaning of the words from Ss then explain the one that might not know such as leap year-fortnight - Valentine and explain briefly about the usage of the ordninal numbers :dates & ordering things.first ,second ,third ,fourth, fifth. Focus SS attentions on the planner.go through the instructions -Tell Ss to follow the instructinos carefully,crossing out ,underlining,circuling and backeting the days specified.

Feedback (3-5 minutes) • check the ss answers &understanding

check answers by giving them the answer key & check understanding by asking questions such as :What day\date is the day after tomorrow \ a week yesterday? then Ss can test eachother

Free practice (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

give Ss a questionnaire and ask them to answer the questions themselves then find their partners and ask them and to make a note of both answers. such as :yes, I use a diary to write what I have to do during the day/week

Feedback (3 minutes) • share answers & calculating SS scores

Ask Ss to calculate their scores and their partners to see who is better organized.
