By the end of the lesson, students will have had the chance to practice the productive skill of speaking about hypothetical situations in the past in the context of making decisions
Procedure (34-43 minutes)
Students will be given three minutes to talk about one important decision and how it has impoacted their lives. They will work in pairs in the break out rooms. Then they will receive OCFB.
Students will match five sentence halves with their corresponding parts. They will work in pairs in the break out rooms and then, they will receive OCFB.
In the clarification stage, students will analyse the target language in terms of Meaning, Form and Pronunciation. First, students will answer five CCQ's about the meaning of two sentences which describe hypothetical situations in the past. Then, students will identify the verb tenses involved in expressing hypothetical situations in the past by means of selecting the correct alternative in a multiple choice activity. After that, students will identify the verb tenses that make up the third conditional. Finally, students will practice pronunciation of weak forms of hypothetical situations in the past.
Students will answer a filling in the gaps task with the corresponding verb tenses used in the target language. They will work in pairs in the breakout rooms prior to OCFB.
Students discuss about two important decisions decisions, how they impacted their lives and how different their lives would be if they hadn't made such decisions.
