To practice speaking and to allow the student to make sentences using the modal auxiliary verbs ( will, won't , might, might not). All this in the context of going on a safari
Procedure (32-45 minutes)
T-Ss: I will go on safari in Africa
T-Ss: shows slide (2) I know that it will (elicit hot), CCQ, drill, written form and stress T-Ss: shows (3) : It won't (elicit snow), CCQ, drill , written form and stress T-Ss: shows slide (4): it might (elicit rain), CCQ, drill , written form and stress
T-Ss: shows slide (5) with scale of what will happen (100%), what won't happen (0%) and what might happen. T-Ss: asks Ss to place will, won't and might on the scale Ss-T: place the modals on the scale T-Ss: shows slide (6): with snow, sun and rain placed on the scale accordingly
T-Ss: shows slide (7). explains the structure of the sentence. T-Ss: asks the Ss to repeat with different pronouns. clarifies the short form ('ll and won't) Ss-T-Ss: repeat and practice
T-Ss: shows slide (8) explains these are warning before going on safari. T-Ss: asks students to complete in pairs S-S: Ss work in pairs (T monitors) Ss-T-Ss: check answers together
