Teacher greets students and says that today we´ll write a restaurant leaflet. Teacher firsts asks students: "What´s your favourite restaurant? Why" Teacher aks students to talk in pairs for two minutes. Teacher asks ICQs: Are you working in pairs or individually? (in pairs) What do you have to talk about? (our favourite restaurant) How much time do you have? (two minutes) Teacher collects some whole-group feedback before showing them a restaurant leaflet.
Teacher shares screens and says that she likes this specific restaurant and shows students a sample of a restaurant leaflet and asks students to read it for one minute. Teacher asks an ICQ: How much time do you have? After students have read, teacher asks brief questions: Is it an email? Is it a film review? What kind of text it it? Teacher then presents that this is a leaflet.
After that, teacher shows a slide to show students that it is a restaurant leaflet. Teacher sends students a link with the leaflet and ask: Received? Yes or No? Later, teacher asks students to answer questions in pairs for five minutes about some layout/language features using google forms. There´ll be questions to guide students during this stage on Google forms. Teacher says: "Look at the leaflet and answer questions in pairs for 5 minutes" Teacher says: "Open the link" Received? Yes/no? ICQs: Are you working individually or in pairs? (pairs) How much time do you have? (5 minutes) What do you have to do? (answer questions) Teacher, after that, asks some of the questions which students have just discussed as feedback and check if students could answer it properly. Teacher shares screen with her leaflet and asks some of these questions: Why is the name of the restaurant big? (To call attention/attract) Are there pictures? (Yes) Are the letters big, small or big and small? (Big and small) Do you remember three adjectives on the leaflet? (comfortable, beautiful, great) Why do we use positive adjectives? (To promote / say good things about it) Is the language formal or informal? (Informal) Why do we write a leaflet? To tell a story or to promote? (promote) (optional:How do you say promote in Spanish?) Is the information short or long? ( short) In this sentence "Here YOU find the best Argentinian food", is YOU personal or impersonal? (personal) The following question is asked to link to the next stage: Can you use your creativity? (yes!)
Teacher asks students to write a restaurant leaflet with or without a template. Teacher asks students to open a google doc link and ask: "Received?" yes/no? Teacher says: "Now, look at my leaflet and write your leaflet about a restaurant you love" Promote your restaurant! Use your creativity! You have 15 minutes! ICQs: What do you have to write about? (a restaurant I love) How much time do you have? (15 minutes) Are you criticizing or promoting your restaurant? (promoting)
Teacher says: Now, you are teachers! Use these questions (share screen) to correct your friends´ leaflets. Teacher sends the link and asks students: Received? Yes/no? Teacher says: "In pairs, change your leaflets" For example: I send my leaflet to you! Received? Yes/no? Now, David, send your google docs link to the group. In pairs, for 5 minutes, send your google doc link to your friend and correct it! ICQs: What do you have to do? (send links and correct my friend´s leaflet) How can you correct the leaflet?(using the questions/checklist) How much time do you have? ( 5 minutes) After students have finished, teacher collects content feedback and, if time allows, some language feedback. Some debriefing questions will be asked so as to gauge effectiveness of the class such as: Did you enjoy writing a leaflet? Is the language formal or informal? Teacher thanks students for cooperation and participation!
