Description

In this lesson Ss learn some positive traits within the context of "Someone I admire" , two listening tasks . The lesson starts with a small discussion. This is accompanied by vocabulary matching exercises . The listening task is composed of two activities. First, Ss listen for gist and then for specific details. In the end, Ss have a freer activity to talk about someone they admire.

Abc power point/ zoom meeting/audio track

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice use of some "Positive Traits" in the context of listening activity,"The person I admire most".

Subsidiary Aims

  • To practice listening for gist and specific information

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ss are asked to discuss in pairs traits they admire in people giving reasons why they like them.

Present (10-15 minutes) • Present some positive traits

Teach the new vocabulary through a matching exercise. Clarify the meaning through CCQs Model and drill the stressed syllables in every word

Controlled Practice (10-12 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Ss are asked to do a role- trait matching activity. Ss are going to listen to two ladies talking about who they admire. Ss will be asked first to identify who each one is talking about . Then listen again to find why like them.

/Production/Free Practice (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Ss are instructed to do speaking task page 43. Then, report to the class.

Semi controlled practice • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Ss are asked to discuss in pairs the reasons for their choices in the role- trait match exercise. Then report to the class. -Class feedback
