Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide review of perfect tenses in the context of daily routine
  • To enable students to understand the use of perfect tenses.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of daily routine

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students to familiarise with the perfect tenses.

Ask learners talk about their daily events, using the perfect tenses.(review)Break-out rooms

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight target sentences.

Note down the present perfect, past perfect, future perfect sentences by listening to three recordings. Individual, PW, OFCB ICQs: What are you going to do? Note down the perfect tenses. How many recordings do you listen? Three. What are you going to do after listening? OCFB

Language Analysis (6-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the task languages

Elicit the present perfect, past perfect, future perfect sentences. Clarify MFP by timeline, CCQs, the context.(PowerPoint)

Task (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Learners work on 10 fill-in gap questions individually. 5 minutes later, PW and PCFB.

Planning (6-8 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to plan students' reports

ICQs: What are you going to do? Talk about what they did, do, will do, using the perfect tenses in pairs.

Report (6-8 minutes) • To allow students to report on how they did the task and how it went
