To provide specific information listening practice using a text about giving directions in the context of travel
Procedure (35-48 minutes)
T. projects a map where he is in Bond street. T. ask students to guide him to a place in the map. (Italian restaurant, police station) Ss. give directions to T. T. comments on their instructions.
Ss. do exercise 2a page 72 where they have to match the directions 1-8 with diagrams A-H. Ss. listen to an audio toc heck their answers.
T. elicits the ways to give direction and ask for directions though questions: how how e ask for directions? what are the useful sentences to give directions? Ss. give their examples. T. comments on them. T. elicits meaning, form and pronunciation. (here he can use back chaining.) through giving examples and showing images. T. shows an image and asks Ss. a picture and asks them to locate the rats. then he comments on their answers.
Ss. do exercise 3A page 72 where they listen to a woman asking for directions, then write the letter (A-M) for the two branches. Ss. share their answers together. T. provides an answer key.
Ss. do practice 3c page 72 where they have to listen to the woman asking for directions and underline the stress words. Ss. check their answers with T. T. plays the audio again for Ss. to listen and repeat.
