Description
In this lesson, students will be listening to "Vox pops" series of people speaking naturally about the same topic; students are required to listen attentively to the audio, apply the strategies taught about active listening, identify the general ideas including some specific details, and connect the main topic to real life.

To provide gist listening practice using a text about "What we miss away from our countries" in the context of Being away from home

Procedure (23-40 minutes)
Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students
Guessing game (pre-teach vocabulary they the students are supposed to find in the listening lesson)
Pre-Reading/Listening (5-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible
Picture of myself and another one from the book to connect students with the theme: what do we really miss being away from our countries: a short students discussion
While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-15 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks
Present some strategies about an active listening. Ask students to note down everything useful: names, countries etc Take notes while listening keep SILENCE. Listening to the audio answering questions
Post-Reading/Listening (5-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned
Making final inferences and connect the text to the main theme.
