Procedure

Break the Ice (5-10 minutes) • Get to know the students and for the students to get to know each other

2 lies and one truth game: T asks the students to think of 2 lies and one truth about themselves. each student shares 2 lies and one single truth and the rest have to guess which one was the truth and which ones are the lies.

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Teacher picks up some photos that depict sceneries from different countries and asks students to write as many adjectives as they can to describe the photo. DO NOT USE nice, beautiful or lovely.

Exposure (5-10 minutes) • to practice using of some adjectives in discussion

1- What do you look for in a holiday destination? 2- Which of the following adjectives would you choose to describe the place: Cosmopolitan - crowded - exciting - historical - industrial - noisy - ugly - old-fashioned -peaceful - polluted - romantic - popular

Quiz Game (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

All around the world game: The game is a sort of a quiz; 6 questions with 3 options to choose from. each question has a score. Therefore, the student with the highest score is the winner. T will explain the game, and divide students into 2 groups. T will display the questions , let the students discuss the answer in their breakout rooms, then check the answers.

Productive Task(s) (10-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Students need to fill in the blanks with 2 words while using the correct form of the adjectives in brackets: a- The Nile is only slightly longer (long) than the Amazon. b- Tokyo is the .....................(populated) city in the world. c- Mumbai is a little .....................(big) than Sao Paulo. d- New York is the ....................... (big) city in the world. e- the coast of Canada is .........................(long) than the coast of Indonesia. f- Los Angeles is a ................. Idiom of the Day! (8-10 minutes) • To learn an idiom and how to use it

Idiom of the Day: put your foot in your mouth 1- T asks the students to try to guess the meaning. 2- Then, gives a hint by displaying an example: I really put my foot in my mouth by asking about how her husband was. I forgot that he died last year. 3- meaning: If you put your foot in your mouth, you say or you do the wrong thing and usually make matters worse. 4- ask students to come up with a sentence using this idiom.
