Procedure (45-55 minutes)
- T shows SS a picture of a collection of social media websites (Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram) asks them how they think these websites affect badly on our lives.
- T elicits the meaning of prospects, drills it, and then writes it on the board. - T elicits the meaning of survey, drills it, and then writes it on the board. - T elicits the meaning of reputation, drills it, and then writes it on the board.
- T tells SS that they need to read the text very quickly, and they don't need to focus on details to provide an answer to this question: Who said that "Social networking is a great way to make connections with job opportunities in 2010?'' - T asks some CCQS: Are you going to read quickly or slowly? Do you need to read every word? Are you going to focus on details? - T gives SS the handout. - SS check their answers in pairs. - T gives feedback by nominating SS.
- SS read the text again on answer these questions: 1- How many companies were questioned by the survey? 2- Why should we care about our online reputation? 3- What is the percentage of employers who are fired because of their online content? - SS check answers in groups. - T gives feedback on PPT slides.
- T divides SS into groups to discuss this question: How can we use our profiles on social media to our benefit? - T invites one S from each group to suggest ideas from what they discussed together.
