Description

In this lesson, Ss will learn some new vocabulary related to the context of men, women, and children. First, they will carry out guided practice ( completing sentences with the right proposition to make correct collocations.) Next, they will practice speaking activity ( free practice.)

Main Aims

  • To provide students with some new vocabulary .

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T introduces some pictures to draw the students to the target language ( allocations ) . T asks the ss some question about the pictures . T discueese the answer and gives feed back

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T displays a powerpoint presentation having some slides including some collections for the students to match . T introduces the new material ( new words ) to be analyzed.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

T high lights the new vocab to draw the attention to the Target Langude

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T displays the new vocab one by one T tries to elicit the meaning of the new words by introducing pictures and short definitions T asks CCQs to make sure SS have got the right meaning T says the new words twice. T shows the phonemic transcription T models and drills. Ss repeat twice. T gives feedback

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T introduces the task; COMPLTHSENTENCES WITHE THE RIGHT PREPOSITIONS : T asks ICQs to make sure SS know what to do What are you going to do ? To choose or complete? complete. S tries to complete the task individually. T monitors and makes sure SS are on the task S discuss their answers in pairs or groups S listens to the transcript and checks their answers T discusses the answers and gives feedback ( A/ K )

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

T introduces the task; COMPLTHSENTENCES WITHE THE RIGHT PREPOSITIONS : T asks ICQs to make sure SS know what to do What are you going to do ? To choose or complete? complete. S tries to complete the task individually. Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T introduces the task: Tell us something about yourself using collocations. 1- What do you talk about when you meet your friend? 2-What's your country famous for 3- What are you good at? 4-What are you afraid of?
