T. Divide Ss into two groups (A and B) asking them oral questions about food. Teacher lets ss look at the pictures and asks oral questions. Then uses flash cards to introduce the food words in the lesson. T. draws symbols on pieces of cards to show the different foods he wants to introduce, e.g. orange, bananas, bread, chicken, etc. In class, hold up each card and elicit the word. Model it and drill it around the class.
Once I have introduced all the words, hold up two cards at once, and ask individual students to say, for example, tomatoes and bananas. T. writes some questions on the board: What food is good for you? What food is bad for you? What do you like eating?
T. lets Ss match the words to the pictures. T. asks Ss to compare their answers with a partner before he checks with the whole class. Answer: A. Eggs G. Bread B. Apples H. Lettuce C. Fish I. Milk D. Ice cream J. Chicken E. Cake K. potatoes F. Bananas
Ss complete the information for the Nutrition Reference Guide. Ss can compare their answers with a partner before the teacher checks with the whole class. T. plays the recording. Ss listen and check their answer. Ss listen the recording again. Ss listen and repeat the words.
