Description

in this lesson ,Ss will practice reading for gist and details in the context of food .Ss will learn some new vocabulary words as well.

Materials

Abc gap-fill HOS -cut-ups-pictures -Whiteboard -marker

Main Aims

  • To provide gist and detailed reading practice using a text about memories of food in the context of edible .

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of some vocabulary words to Ss do the task in the context of food

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Show Ss pictures of food and ask them to guess what the lesson would be about . Ask Ss to talk in pairs about their favorite food .

Feedback (2 minutes) • to share answers

Some of the Ss share their answers with the class.

Pre-Reading (10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Show Ss a picture of Emma Bunton and ask if they know who she is .then give them a quick background about the Emma.point out that this is an interview and she uses alot of slang,However ,much of this is explained in glossary. -Pre-teach some words and drill them chorally then individually.

While-Reading1 (5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading tasks

Ask Ss to read the article quickly to find out the answers to the two questions .

Feedback (2 minutes) • check the Ss understanding & share answers

ask SS to check their answers in pairs then have a whole class feedback.

While-Reading2 (5 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading tasks

Ask Ss to read the article more carefully to decide which of the statements are true and which false.

Feedback (5 minutes) • check the Ss understanding & answers

Ask Ss to check their answers in pairs then ask them to correct the false statements in groups. then write the answers on the board.

Post-Reading (5 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

go through the example with the class "My mother was a better cook than my father",then ask them to change the other sentences to the first person. check answers before asking them to change the information so that it is true for them.

Feedback (5 minutes) • check the Ss understanding & share answers

ask Ss to share their answers in pairs then have a whole class feedback.
