To allow Ss with to ask for and asnwer information about a school or a language institute.
Subsidiary Aims

To provide practice of language used for Polite and indirect questions in the context of Listening to a man asking for information about a French language course.
Procedure (42-52 minutes)
Ask Ss to look at the two photos and what they think about them. Ss will see two photos subtitled with two questions. They will talk about them in pairs. Set 3 - 4 minutes for the task and then get feedback. Encourage all Ss to participate and react to each other's answers. Allow Ss to predict the topic of the lesson. Give feedback.
Pre-teach some a set of collocation before Ss do the listening activity. Ss will match photos with the collocations they describe. Ss will peer-check Give feedback. Tell Ss that they are going to listen to a man and woman. Don't Tell them who or where they are as they will listen first for the 'gist'. Show Ss the HO 'gist exercise' and tell them that after listening to the recording, they will choose the general idea from the choices given in the 'gist exercise'. Play the recording once. Ss will listen and answer the question and peer-check. Give feedback. Show Ss the second HO. Tell them that now they are going to listen to 'details' and underline the correct information. Do a few ICQs to check if they knew what to do. Play the recording and then Ss will do it individually. Ss will peer-check their answers. Allow Ss to agree/disagree with each other's answers and justify that. Give feedback.
Ask Ss to do a matching exercise in which they will match each question with its suitable answer. Demonstrate the exercise to Ss by doing the first question. Ss will do the exercise in pairs. Monitor if any help needed and then give feedback. Ask Some CCQs to check if Ss have understood the function of the questions. Drill the questions and answers in order that Ss will practice the form and pronunciation. Ask Ss to repeat chorally and then individually.
Tell Ss that now in pairs to plan an evening school. Draw their attention to the questions they need to work on and answer to help them plan effectively. Ask some ICQs to check if Ss have understood how to do the activity. After pairing Ss, they will work in pairs and start planning. Monitor discretely to double-check of they're on the right track. Group the pairs in groups of four and tell them to find out about each other's schools. Draw their attention to use the questions they used to plan for their school to ask each other. Monitor discreetly and note down any errors to correct with Ss in the cold-error correction stage.
Show Ss their errors anonymously. Allow Ss to correct & reformulate each other's mistakes. If Ss struggle with stating the corrections, give feedback and highlight the errors and corrections.
