To practice the vocabulary of different type of music in the same context.
Procedure (38-47 minutes)
Ask the Ss if they like music or not, and ask them who is their favorite singer. Show the Ss a video and ask them if the two singers sing the same kind of music or not, and which one they prefer.
Ask the Ss to answer the questions and make them true about themselves.
Ask the Ss to match each kind of music in the activity to the picture that describes it. Ask them to work alone. Then, ask them to check their answers in pairs. After that, share the answers with the whole class. Drill the pronunciation of the word, if the students mispronounce it. Ask the Ss to answer the next activity by matching the word to its definition. Follow the steps in the previous activity to do this task as well. Tell the Ss that they are going to listen to a record, and ask them to choose the music that they are going to hear.
Ask the Ss to work in pairs to practice speaking about music using the context of music questionnaire that is used in the preparation stage. Demonstrate the task well and give them enough time to speak. Then, share their answers by asking each student to tell something about his/her partner. Play a game with the Ss in which one of them will be the presenter of a TV show and the other students will pick the pictures of the singers in order to practice the context of a music questionnaire in group work.
Revise the TL quickly and praises their good use of the TL. Also, thank the Ss for listening and for being active in the lesson.
