Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The instructor asks the students to think about three things that make them happy. The students will work in pairs. Then each student is going to share with the rest of the class the three things his/her partner enjoys.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

The students are asked to read silently a magazine article about the seven habits of happy people. The instructor asks the students: Which of the seven habits do you do and which could you do more?

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

The instructor provides the students with Gap fill exercise. The exercise contains the difficult words mentioned inside the reading passage. The students is going to guess the meaning of the new vocabulary from context. Then they are going to fill in the gaps. The students work in pairs. Then each group check the answers with other groups. Then the instructor check the correct answers by showing them on the power point presentation.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The students are going to answer Wh-questions about the reading text. They will be divided into groups. They are to check answers with other groups. The instructor checks the correct answers with them all.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Role Play: The students are asked to do an interview another student using some prompts with pictures about different places and activities. The student asks each student to pick a picture. Then they work in pairs. Each student asks his/her each topic such as: holiday, weekend, ...etc.
