Procedure (42-60 minutes)
teacher will show students a short video about bullying to get engaged in the lesson then the teacher will give them 3 mins to work in pairs to put a definition for the word bullying.
teacher will show students presentation about bullying the the teacher try to elicit the new vocabulary word "torment-target-humiliate - gossip-demonstration-awareness - stand up for -cyberbullying self esteem-anxiety" by giving them a hand out and show the vocab with i know and i don't know activity by showing students pictures about the new words and let them to guess the topic and see if they know the meaning of some words .then the teacher will use the context clues to elicit the new words .then students will set in groups and answer the first exercise they will match the words on the left with meanings on the write.
teacher will distribute students into pair groups and give the students the reading text and ask students to skim the text read it very quickly to get the main idea of the text and ask them some questions 1)what is bully?2)describe a bully from your school days.3)what is cyber bullying? teacher will monitor the students to check if they get the main idea of the text .
teacher will ask students to read the text carefully and be attention to the details teachers will ask students to stop after each paragraph to check their prediction and in pairs students will put a title for each paragraph .then teacher will ask students to took at page 2 to answer the questions about the paragraph what are some different types of bullying?what personality traits do bullies typically have?what is pink shirt day?why do bullies behave this way?why do some people think anti -bullying campaigns are ineffective?what does the reading say about bullying in adulthood? and check their answers together and the teacher will monitor the students and keep sure that they are on the right track.
teacher will ask students to discuss this question do all types of bullying effect people on the same way?teacher divide class into groups the teacher will give each team a set of bullying thermometer then they will discuss together what that type of bullying means and students will write a definition for each word and when all the group are agree about every type of bullying they have to put the cards in order from the coolest "the least harmful" to the hottest "the most harmful". then the teacher will show students a presentation about part of speech to remind the students with the grammar lesson we took it before and ask students to practice the grammar lesson in the context teachers will set the class into 2 groups each group will find from the text (2 adverbs,5 nouns,4 verbs)when they finished they will check the answers with the other group.
teacher will ask students to read this authentic text about bullying at home and come tomorrow with the ideas to make a poster about anti-bullying campaign and students have to use some vocabulary from the lesson to revise the vocabulary.and students will answer grammar worksheet as a homework to revise the grammar we have covered in the session.
