Procedure (41-51 minutes)
Show the topics on the smartboard: songs, games, Tv programmes, family rules, toys, friends. Ask SS to think of an example of each that they can remember from their early childhood. SS share their ides in groups to find out if they have any answers in common.
SS read the short descriptions of 10 people about their upbringing (sticked on the walls) and 2 people in the book then discuss the question in pairs. In feedback, elicit their ideas and write them on the board. Check the meaning of pocket money, sleepovers, tell me off and praise.
Give SS time to read the questions. Play the recording for them to answer the questions. Encourage them to check answers in pairs before checking with class. SS discuss what they can remember in pairs. If necessary, play the the recording again.
Give SS time to check the of the words by using their mobile devices. Circulate and hep where necessary and write any new words on the board. SS first check the meanings in pairs, before deciding who said each sentence. When they are ready, play the recording again, pausing after each sentence for the SS to check their answers.
Read the examples with the class, then put SS in pairs to discuss the questions . Circulate and encourage SS to use the words they've learnt in the previous stage. In feedback, nominate SS to share their ideas with the class.
