Description

In this grammar lesson, I will be teaching students the negative form for (i/you/we/they ) and the question form / short answers. In the controlled practice part, students will answer some exercises to check accuracy. SS will ask each other questions using the question form of the present simple in the freer practice

Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson students will have practised the meaning,pronunciation and form of the present simple in context of free time

Subsidiary Aims

  • students will have practised speaking for fluency .

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • to introduce the topic of the lesson and generate interest

1-T asks Ss to look at the PPPT and elicits some sentences about Jeanette to help Ss form their concept of the present simple tense. 2 T-Concept check by asking the learners, Is it present/past /or future? Are we talking about now? Are we talking about every day?

Presentation and highlighting the meaning,form and pronunciation (15-20 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through talking about Jeanette's free time activities.2-To notice the netive form and pronunciation of the target language.

1. T sets the context by writing some sentences about Jeanette. go out after work (x), go to the cinema(x) 2 T elicits negative sentences from the students. She doesn’t go out after work She doesn’t go to the cinema 3 Concept check by asking is this positive or negative 4 Drill the negative form and focus on intonation 3-Elicit the grammar name of the negative form and write it on the board. subject pronoun+ auxiliary +verb infinitive the second part(question form); 1 T shows this sentence on the projector Jeanette visits her parents on Sundays 2-T asks the S if this is a sentence or a question. 3-T elicits the question by asking is it she /he? Is it does/do? 4-T writes the question on the board 5- T elicits the grammar name and writes it on the board Does /she / visit /her parents auxiliary / subject pronoun / verb infinitive. 6 T concept check 7 T Drills the intonation of the question form

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • to provide ss with controlled practice to check accuracy

Ex no 4(write the sentences in the table) 1T gives a demo and instruct ‘’ by saying work alone and put these 2 sentences in the table 2 T asks ICQs to check their understanding e.g. what are you doing with the sentences? Are you working alone? 3-students check their answers in pairs. T shows students the answers on a PowerPoint slide Ex no 5 1T gives instruct ‘’ by saying write (yes )or( no) 2 T gives a demo and answers the first two. I study English. ( No ) I don’t study English 2 I phone my family every day( No ) I don’t phone my family every day. 3 I go shopping on Saturdays. ( ) 4 I watch TV every evening. ( ) 5 I eat out with my friends a lot( ) 2 T asks ICQs to check their understanding e.g. what are you going to write sentences or write yes or no only Are you working alone? or together? 3-T ask the ss to write negative sentences for their no answers. 4- T demonstrates the first 2 with the class. 5-T asks ICQs to check their understanding e.g. what are you doing with the sentences? Are you working alone? 6- T checks the answers with the whole class Ex6 1T gives a demo and instruct ‘’ by saying work alone and put these 2 sentences in the table 2 T asks ICQs to check their understanding e.g. what are you doing with the questions? Are you working alone? 3-students check their answers in pairs. T shows students the answers on a PowerPoint slide

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Explain and demonstrate that now they will ask each other, do the first two with them. T gives handouts of "Find Someone Who”, in which students stand up and walk around asking questions to match people to the information they have been given (using do you). T monitors and help. Then they give feedback about each other from the answers they have.
