Procedure (45-55 minutes)
The instructor asks the students if they ever go to cafes and what kind of cafes they like to go to and why. After this, she/he presents them cards in different colors. Every color has two cards, one is with a picture and one is with a word of an item that possibly exists in a cafe. Students choose the cards randomly and without seeing the content. Then they find their color partner and show their cards to the whole classroom. Hence they learn the vocabulary of a cafe.
The instructor asks the students what they need to do if they go to a café. The students describe the steps orally and then the instructor gives Worksheet 1 out. Then they ordered the steps, let them compare their answers with their friends next to them. After this, the instructor separates them into pairs and asks what they want to eat in a cafe. After a small talk, she/he gives Worksheet 2 out and asks the students to sort food and drinks into the right columns.
The instructor asks about what they say in a cafe and then she/he gives Worksheet 3 out. After one minute examining, she/he reads dialogue aloud with the intonations, then writes "Og Og" on the board and wants the students to read it. The instructor says " Now you'll listen to my reading carefully and the read the dialogue by saying just 'ogog'!" In this way, they will imitate their instructor's voice and learn to right intonations during the dialog. After this, the students complete the comprehension questions at the bottom of the page.
The instructor gives Worksheet 4 out to the students and asks the students to number each line as before. Then she/he asks the students to copy out statements or questions in the correct order. The instructor checks the exercise as students finish and pair them to practice the dialogues in the exercise
The instructor gives three different groups an authentic menu and wants them to prepare a skit in a cafe. In this role play/drama activity, the instructor expects the usage of the right vocabulary and ordering in the target language.
