Description

In this lesson, students will practice their listening skills and speaking for fluency. Students will be presented with new vocabulary related to 'Films'. Ss will then practice listening to some conversations which the main plotline is about 'Films' and answer the questions. Ss will then practice speaking in an extended discussion of films with 'agreeing-disagreeing' phrases.

Procedure

Warmer- Lead in (8-10 minutes) • To introduce and practice the vocabulary used when talking about 'Films'

T. asks students some questions like 'How often do you go to the cinema?', 'What is the last film you saw?' 'What is the best film you have ever watched?', 'Why do you like it?', 'What is is it about?' T. gets feedback from the students very briefly. T. makes students write down the questions which she asked. (She wil use these questions at the other part of speaking)

Vocabulary (5-8 minutes) • To introduce and practice the vocabulary used when talking about 'Films'

T. hangs some kinds of films on the board and asks students 'what kind of movies do you like?' and the students do pair work.

Gist Listening (5-8 minutes) • To Provide students with less chalenging gist listening

T. will make students listen to three conversations about films and match each one to a situation.

Detailed listening (5-10 minutes) • To Provide students with more chalenging detailed listening

T. will put the students in pairs and listen again. Ss will discuss questions which take place in exercise 2.

Speaking Stage (5-10 minutes) • Practice speaking fluency, new vocabulary

T. puts the students in new pairs and makes the students tell their their ideas with the phrases of exercise 1. Ss will work in pairs and discuss their own ideas in a semi controlled context.
