Procedure (57-85 minutes)
I'll greet the students and ask them about their day. i'll show the students an invitation card for a birthday party then I'll ask them to tell me the name of the picture. " invitation card" I'll ask the student to work in pairs to speak about how they can invite their friends for a special occasion that they have.
I'll write three questions on the board 1- When is her birthday? 2- What's her friend's name? 3- Why did she write this invitation to her friend ? 4- Is she talking about her past or future birthday? I'll divide the students into groups then I'll ask them to open their book page 21 and read the following then answer the questions written on the board. I'll ask ICQs to check their understanding. 1- which page will you read? 2- will you work in pairs or in groups? 3- Where are the questions that you will answer? I'll go around them and monitor. I'll check the answer with whole class after finishing the task.
I'll give the students handouts of an invitation email then I'll ask them to read it carefully. I'll ask them to work in pairs and match a heading to the paragraph content . for example the beginning , the body and the ending paragraph for 5 minutes. I'll ask them to underline greeting words . I'll ask them ICQS to check their understanding of the task. 1- Will you work in pairs or individual? 2- What will you underline ? 3- what will you do after reading? After fininshing I'll check their answers with whole class.
I'll write three special occasions on the board and I'll ask student to choose one of them and write about. 1- MY brother birthday party. 2- My sister wedding. 3- My graduation party I'll divide the class into groups to choose one topic and write down the ideas they will write about. I'll give them paper to write the ideas on it . I'll ask them ICQs :- 1- How many topic will you choose? 2- will you work in pairs or in groups? 3- What will you write? Where?
I'll ask the students to work in pairs then start writing about the topic they choose. I'll tell the students to write their own letter to a friend. Ellicit what the first paragraph will be about. Ellicit if they are going to talk about the Past or the Future. I'll give the students 10 minutes for the task. I'll go around them and monitor.
After fininshing writing I'll tell the students to swap the papers with a partner (a different partner) and check for mistakes. I'll write some mistakes I notice while monitoring on the board. Then I'll check the mistakes with the whole class.
I'll ask the students to work individually and write an invitation to their friends. I'll go around them while witting and taking notes of their mistakes.
I'll hang their paper on the board then I'll make a gallery walk . I'll ask them to read the paper carefully and underline the mistakes. I'll Comment on the good language and interesting parts. I'll ask what problems they had with the production part. I'll Check common errors together. I'll tell them to spend more time on the next production at home I'll ask them to write about different topic from the three written on the board at home as a homework.
