Main Aims

  • By the end of the session, students would have had the chance to provide practice and clarification of holiday activities in the context of travel.

Subsidiary Aims

  • By the end of the session, students would have had the chance to provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a role play in the context of planning a trip.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T displays pictures of different places that people can go to in Summer and Winter. First picture for the beach, and the second picture in the snow.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T tells the students a story about the last time she went on a trip and the activities she did there. "Last summer, I travelled to Dahab with my friends. On the first day we went to the beach, we swam and went on a boat trip. At night, we went to see the mountains, and walked around in the city. It was a nice activity of sightseeing. The next day, we wanted to get a tan, so we went to the beach and sunbathed for 4 hours. My friend decided she wants to go fishing. The owner of the hotel asked us if we wanted to go camping, but we were scared of the animals in the desert. On the last day, we we rented bikes and went to the shops to buy souvenirs."

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Controlled Practice (5-7 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Feedback and error correction (3-5 minutes) • Giving feedback of the free practice

Write the wrong and correct sentences on the board, that were written while monitoring
