Teacher asks some questions about work life and possible problems that can be seen in workplace to raise the awareness of difficulty in finding a new person to work with. Students will listen to the conversation and elicit the problem that the speakers have(they need a new assistant).
Students check the transcript with their pairs and find phrases that include agreeing, disagreeing, and giving opinion. These will help them on task.
Students will be divided into groups of five. Their task will be choosing the most suitable candidate for the staff that they have listened in the pre-task stage. They will be given three possible candidates' information cards.
Students are supposed to use agreeing, disagreeing, and giving opinion phrases to reach an agreement on the candidate that would be the most suitable for the company. They will need to support their decision.
Students will report their decision. They will give some reasons why they choose that candidate. Other groups will do the same and whole class will agree on one candidate in the end.
Students will be given a hand out that include some more phrases on agreeing, disagreeing, and giving opinion. They will categorise the phrases and if necessary they will check the previous phrases they have seen in the script.
Students will be given a hand out that provide some practice on the phrases on agreeing, disagreeing, and giving opinion.
