in this lesson students learn about present simple (positive and negative ) through some exercises and using marker sentence to show the different between positive and negative form and differ between life in their country and life in other countries through some videos games and flash cards

Main Aims

  • To provide specific information listening practice using a text about life in my country in the context of life in Australia
  • To provide detailed listening practice using a text about life in my country in the context of listen again and tick the sentence which are true

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (10-15 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1-I will provide a slide in this slide i am going to create 5 squares. 2-In each square i will provide some pictures for life style in a country. 3-I am going to ask students to guess this life style belongs to which country . 4- I am going to answer the first one. 5 -After they guess i am going to ask them which life style do you prefer to live in . 6- I will start by telling them the life style that i want to live in .

pre /listening (10-15 minutes) • to prepare Ss for the text and make it accessible

1-I am going to provide a slide in which some general information about Australia is asked to be answered like ...where is it ...what is the capital of Australia ...what is the language of Australian people...do you want to live in Australia.... 2-After that t am going to say we are going to listen to Nicky who is asking about daily life in Australia . 3- But before listening i need you to read those sentences carefuly to help you to understand the text better . 4- I am going to ask some CCQ to check their understanding .

while reading • to provide students with specific information

1-students listen and number the questions. 2-i am going to stop the tape to check their understanding by asking them to answer one of the questions in the exercise . 3-i will ask students to check their answer together . 4- i will open class discussion .

while listening 2 • to provide students with more challenging detailed deduction and inference listening tasks

1- this time they are listening for details . 2- they are going to listen again to the tape but this time to tick the sentence which is true. 3- before listening i am going to ask some CCQ to check their understanding . 4 - i will ask the students to check their answers together 5- i will open class discussion

Teach (10-15 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

I will use the marker sentence (people have lunch in cafes) . I will say as we listen to the tape this sentence is true ...many people in Australia have their lunch in cafes.but this is not right in Egypt we have lunch at home . So how we can use this sentence in a negative way . we can add do not to turn this sentence into a negative form Then i will turn the marker sentence into negative form (people don`t have lunch in cafe) Then i am going to ellicite on my fingers . Then i am going to write the form into divided square .

Test #2 (5-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

Students complete the sentences for their countries .using either the positive or negative form. Students check their information together. Then open class discussion .

TEST (5-10 minutes) • to provide students with specific information

We will go back to the first exercise . I am going to ask them to write three things are different between Egypt and Australia . Then i am going to ask them about three things that are the same between Egypt and Australia.

I am going to tell them to look at the idea ...i don`t have lunch at home .i have it in a cafe ....they can use this idea to make six true sentence about himself . Pair work check Then open group discussion
