Description

This lesson will focus on developing reading skills through gist and specific detail-based tasks. The students will learn some new vocabularies .They will then read the passage individually and focus on specific detail questions to be discussed in groups

Main Aims

  • To provide gist and detailed reading practice using a text about saying "Learning a language in 22 hours" i.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation and discussion in the context of an app that makes learning a new language like playing a game.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in(3-5 minutes) (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will divide the students into 4 groups o. I will write some questions on the board?1-what do you do in your free time?2-Are you playing useful games?give me examples.then let the students to answer these questions.then share their answers

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-15 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible and more understandable

I will ask the students to divide into 4 groups , 1- I will display pictures about the new words with context .then i will read the new words and the students will repeat t loudly 2-I will give each group two words to predict the meaning from the context.3-i will give them the appropriate definitions

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide stuedts gist task

Students will continue working in groups of 4, and I will hand out sets of the reading exercise. match the words in bold in the article with meanings below. I will give them 2 minutes to do this.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (5-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

This time I will ask the students to read the passage individually. I will give them the comprehension questions about learning a new language Then, I will ask them to discuss the questions in pairs. We will review as a class

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

I will give the students blank paper to put the blocking words in sentences the share their sentences with te whole class
