Receptive Skill - Reading Lesson Plan.Why the world needs introverts.

Description

In this lesson, the students will practice skimming for the general ideas of the text and will learn some new vocabulary They will learn why does the world needs introverts and extroverts.

Materials

Abc board ,projector ,students`book,worksheets .Handouts.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist reading practice using a text about personality in the context of introverts,extroverts

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will divide the students into groups of 5 groups . I will give each group part of the text to read , and ask them to discuss how they can we describe persons . They will have 2 minutes to discuss in small groups, then we will share as a class for another 2 minutes.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible.Preparing the students for the text and making it much more understandable for the student through teaching new vocabulary ( the blocking vocabulary ).

I will put some pictures and definitions on the board, including the implied meanings of the blocking vocabulary. 2- Then, I will have the students stand up and have them match the definitions to the appropriate pictures. 3- After checking the matching part with the WC, I will put some examples on the board and will have the students match the definitions to the suitable examples. 4- At the last stage of the pre-reading, I will try to teach the pronunciation of the blocking vocabulary and have the students repeat the pronunciation of the words.

While-Reading.... (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading tasks....o practice skimming in the context of an article, which has some character types of the post card...

I will have the students practice skimming through the text quickly and then will have them associate each article with each of the postcards in the first activity. 2- Then, in the second activity, the students will be given a piece of paper, including some statements taken from the text. In this part of the lesson, I will have the students decide which of the statements are true and which of them are false. 3- In the third activity,I will give the students a piece of paper, including a question about the character types of the Persons

While-Reading..2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/ tasks

I will ask them about specific information in the text .They will discuss the questions together then tell me why

Post-Reading (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned....nhancing the receptive skill ( writing ) of the students, having them use the blocking vocabulary to make up their NOTES

1- I will give a piece of paper to each student in the class and have them use the blocking vocabulary in order to have them make up their own Statements. 1- After they have finished making up their postcards, i will have the students share their postcards and the sentences written on each of them with the WC.
