Description

In this lesson,students learn about transport through a trip. The lesson starts with a discussion about the countries they want to visit . This followed by a reading text about The Silk Road in China. Finally , There are some controlled practice through fill in gaps activity and free practice via speaking about his own trip.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in amap (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

ask students to look at the map and make a discussion about the countries they want to visit.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Ss read a text about the silk road. Ss discuss in pairs what countries they want to visit. ss work in pairs asking what are the means of transport they want to travel by.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Ask students to look at the flashcards of the transport and repeat after the teacher

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

show them flash cards to clarify the meaning. ask them to open p.71 and say how many kinds of transport they already know. Elicit the meaning of (aeroplane,coach,tram and scooter) Drill the vocabulary

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Ss work in pairs in the student's book p.71 exercise a match the picture with the words in the box.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

ss work in pairs in exercise b Which kinds of transport: • do people often use to go on holiday? • do people normally use to get to work or school?

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Ss speakabout his own experience where did he travel last holiday? how did he go there?
