Description

In this lesson,T will provide Ss with reading materials to improve their reading skill. Ss will read a text for for specific information. They need to answer the questions. Answers will be compared in pair works and then be checked through doing listening task. After that, T will get Ss to engaged in speaking under the question of " Which facts do you think are the most surprising?" At the end of the lesson, Ss will be provided a task which can be helpful for them to use the articles. They will connect the articles with the words in bold in the given text.

Main Aims

  • practicing scanning skills in reading; Increasing Ss` vocabulary guessing skills in the context of Virus alert

Subsidiary Aims

  • Reinforcing Ss` reading comprehension skills through listening and speaking in the context of Virus alert; Enhancing Ss` reading comprehension such as scanning in the context of Virus alert

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students; to enable students to brainstorm

Ss will be asked the following questions and then brainstorming all ideas on the board. 1. Do you usually use computers? 2. Have you had problems related to virus in your computer? 3. Where did this virus come from? 4. Where does the virus usually come from?

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Ss will be divided into two groups and then they will read the questions before starting the task.

While-Reading (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading task

Each group will be given different texts. They will be asked to read their texts. Then they will compare their answers in their groups. T will reorganize the class so that a student from the first group. Ss will take turns to ask and answer the questions Ss will listen to the track to check the answers and then they will get engaged in drilling some words.

While-Reading (14-16 minutes) • To get Ss to know the new vocabulary and use in real context

Ss will given a matching task. They need to guess the meaning of the words from the text. Then, They will be asked which facts they think the most surprising in the text?

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to know the some usages of articles

Ss will be given a task which they have to match one phrase/word to each of the rules given in the task.
