Procedure (45 minutes)
The teacher will show students a birthday card and draw their attention by telling a short story about this card and elicit the word birthday. *Open the card and show the inside of the card that is written Happy birthday on it. * Elicit the phrase
* The teacher put the pictures of other cards and give students hand out that includes the name of special days and phrases *Students should match the hand out to the pictures on the board in pair *ICQ ( Are you going to match the hand out to pictures individually ?No) *The teacher should elicit the vocabulary and phrases *Check answers with the class * Point to each picture and ask student what is this? (CCQ) *Write the form of the words and phrases on the board *Drill the words and phrases *Students listen to the CD and repeat the practice (CD1 -Track57) *SS listen and answer with the correct phrases
*Ask one of students when is your birthday , can you show it in calendar *Get students attention to give the instruction of an activity to order the hand out of months in pair and check their order with other pair *Model * Check the answers with the class *Listen to the CD and repeat the correct pronunciation of months
*Ask students do you know what is the date today? (elicit) *draw a chart as a calendar/ show the calendar to elicit days of a month (elicit) *write the form of each word on the board *Drill each word
*Give students hand out and ask them to match the dates with words *Listen and practice the dates in 4a *Give students a hand out to match questions and answers individually and them check in pair .At the end check the answers with whole class *Listen and check *Listen and practice
*Students listen to six conversations and they should choose those ones that they hear *Check answers in pair *Check the answers with class
Ask students to write for dates that are important for them and then show their partner , their partner should guess what date is it by asking yes-no questions and then change their partner *Model the activity *Ask students do you remember your when is your partner birthday ?
