Main Aims
-
To provide gist and detailed reading practice using poem entitled as "an incident in a rose garden" by Donald justice in the context of death
Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide process writing practice as well as fluency in speaking through literature analysis around the context of death
Procedure (45-55 minutes)
-Ss do "adventures with alliteration_verbs" -Ss work in pairs to complete the worksheet and give their answers to the WC -T gives corrective feedback
-T shows a picture of "danse macabre" and ask Ss to comment on the painting- a response to the Bubonic plague at the beginning of the 14th century -T then explains America involvement in the Vietnam war during the mid-1960's. -T encourage Ss to bring up the idea of death and that it can come at any time
-Student read individually the poem and then answer the text dependent questions G, H, I on page 145-146.
-Ss do comprehension question 1-4 on page 147.
-Students attempt the Literary criticism Question number 9 on page 147
-Ss attempt question 5,6,7 and 8. (They need to submit their work)
